Something I Have Never Heard Of

My teenagers know a lot about the most modern electronics and technologies that are available, but I am like a dinosaur when it comes to these types of things.  They wanted me to get them a tracfone and I said that I did not want to pay a large monthly bill and then they told me that this phone works differently.  They said that you purchase minutes upfront and you only pay when you need more.  I had never heard of this before and they showed me some tracfone promotions online.  I decided to get them both one and they are on cloud nine.
